2008 Running Champs
The USATF certified course proved challenging for many, coupled with 30 mph winds, and sub-freezing night time temperatures. However adverse the conditions, the winners equaled or excelled on previous UltraCentric performances.

Attila Vozar of the Hungarian National Team was a mere three tenths of a mile shy of Konya’s 2007 run of 146.33. Vozas’s winning mileage of 146.034 earned him $3,000.00,
with $1,000.00 of that coming as “a first time participating winner.” |

First time 24 hour runner Elisha Tanui of McKinney, Texas completed 139.080 miles for a second place overall début. Tanui’s run earned a payday of $1,500.00, with $1,000.00 coming as a “first time participating winner”. |

The U.S. National 24 Hour Championships were awarded to Byron Lane, and Jen Van Allen. Lane won third overall with 122.854 mi, and Van Allen took fourth overall with 121.695; neither were within striking distance of published prize money parameters. |

Tracy Thomas bested the women’s 48 Hour Ultra Centric’s event record with a weekend 154.147 mile total. Thomas handily won the women’s championship. |

Tony Mangan of Ireland bettered David Goggins 48 hour performance of 2007 by nearly a half mile. The hope for world class performances in The Ultra Centric 48 Hour remains by continuing to offer prize money for notorious results. |
